Auction: Luxury Swiss Space-Flown Fake Watches UK From Rolex GMT-Master To Omega Speedmaster

Ahead of the international watch auction season that kicks off in a few weeks, Boston-based RR Auction has opened an online auction that will interest those hunting especially rare, space-flown Swiss made replica watches.

Simply titled Space, the auction is focused primarily on space memorabilia, and includes three space-flown wristwatches that warrant a closer look, including a French astronaut’s Speedmaster that spent almost six hours in space.

Known for its sales focused on historical memorabilia, particularly those relating to space exploration, RR Auction has notched up several notable AAA UK fake watches sales in the past, including a Bulova chronograph worn on the Moon that sold for almost US$1.6 million in 2015.

We round up highlights from the upcoming sale, which closes October 24, 2024. The catalogue and bidding are available online.

Lot 6286 – Replica Rolex GMT-Master II Watches flown on Apollo 14 by Edgar Mitchell

First up is the cheap 1:1 fake Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 1675 watches worn by astronaut Edgar Mitchell on the Apollo 14 mission that landed on the Moon in February 1971. Enhancing its appeal, the watch has tangible provenance: actually be seen in archival footage recording prior to take-off and in onboard footage taken during the mission.

While the GMT-Master II was not uncommon among astronauts of that period – it was conceived as a watch for pilots after all – few actually made it to space. This example is only the second lunar Rolex to be sold publicly, after Ron Evans’s GMT-Master II worn on Apollo 17, which surfaced at Heritage Auctions in 2009, where it sold for over US$131,000.

Mitchell later had the back of his top copy watches engraved, “Worn by Cdr. E. Mitchell on Apollo 14, 1971, To Karlin—My Daughter.”

Accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Edgar Mitchell, the lot carries at estimate of over US$400,000.

Lot 6311 – Fake Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 Watches owned by Dave Scott

Next is astronaut Dave Scott’s perfect replica Omega Speedmaster Professional ref. BA 145.022 “Apollo 11” watches. The very first Speedmaster in gold, the BA 145.022 was special edition introduced in 1969 to mark the Moon landing (and reissued in 2019).

Omega gifted the early examples to notable individuals associated with the lunar mission. Richard Nixon was offered the very first example, but he declined the Swiss movements super clone watches, which is now in the Omega Museum. Twenty-six examples were gifted to the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts in 1969, with this example being no. 16.

Mr. Scott evidently wore the watch regularly, as described by the accompanying letters and evident in the condition of the fake watches wholesale UK, enhancing its charm. The lot description notes that the watch has been cleaned but never restored, and that all parts are original.

The case back is engraved “Astronaut David R. Scott, Gemini 8 – Apollo 9 – Apollo 15”. Interestingly, since Apollo 15 took place after the watch was presented to Mr. Scott on November 25, 1969, Omega requested that the watch be returned to have the Apollo 15 engraving added later.

This is not the first time RR Auction has sold one of the original 26 replica watches for sale. In October 2022, the firm sold Wally Schirra’s example for nearly US$2 million.

The watch includes a letter of provenance signed by Dave Scott, which contains charming details such as “[the watch] was presented to me by the Omega Watch Company at a gala dinner at the Hotel Warwick in Houston, TX, on November 25, 1969” and further states that it “…has been in my personal possession since then…”

The lot carries at estimate of over US$200,000.

Lot 6514 – Omega Speedmaster Replica Watches flown on Mir by Jean-Loup Chrétien

The final watch worth mentioning is French astronaut Jean-Loup Chrétien’s Omega Speedmaster replica watches online, which he wore on the Mir space station during the three-week Aragatz mission in 1988. A Speedmaster ref. 145.022 that was delivered to Moscow in 1976, this is a truly international space watch: “Swiss-made, American-proved, and French-worn on Russian spacecraft” as described in the catalogue.

Though the price point is more accessible than the other lots featured, this Speedmaster spent about twice as much time in space as Edgar Mitchell’s GMT-Master II, as Mr Chrétien wore this China copy watches during a spacewalk that lasted almost six hours.

This Speedmaster includes a letter signed by Jean-Loup Chrétien, certifying this was his personally-worn high quality replica watches from the Aragatz mission. It carries an estimate of over US$30,000. For details, see the catalogue entry.

Space is now live through October 24, 2024. The sale includes five watch-related lots (and even a controller from the Apollo 14 lunar module), with the catalogue and bidding available online at rrauction.com.

The Solution To The Swiss Luxury Replica Rolex Watches Shortage: “Stop Being Poor”

For those unfamiliar with the world of luxury 1:1 replica watches, the whole Rolex buying process is incredibly confusing. Not only are the retail prices of even the brand’s most affordable US online fake watches prohibitively expensive for the vast majority of the human population, buying a Rolex isn’t as simple as just walking into a store and plonking down a fat wad of cash.

No, if you want to get high quality Rolex replica watches– especially popular models like stainless steel Daytonas or Submariners – you need to build up a purchase history with an authorised dealer (AD). Even then, you can expect to spend a long time on a waiting list before you get the chance to buy the watch you really want.

Alternatively, if you can’t wait, you could try buying a watch on the grey market – but that’s a sucker’s game. Not only are aftermarket prices ludicrously expensive, but most watch resellers won’t provide a warranty, or transfer the Rolex factory warranty to you. Buying perfect Rolex fake watches on the grey market can be a very risky enterprise for a number of reasons.

To make matters worse, the world’s in the midst of a Rolex shortage. Despite the fact Rolex has produced hundreds of thousands of copy watches for sale a year for decades, demand has always outstripped supply. The COVID-19 crisis has added extra pressure: not only has it sparked even stronger demand for luxury Swiss movements replica watches (alternative asset classes are in, baby!) but it’s also dealt a hammer blow to Rolex and other watch manufacturers’ supply lines and manufacturing capacities.

In short, it’s never been tougher to get your hands on new best super clone Rolex watches. But there’s a solution to this growing problem that’s been staring all us watch fans in the face for ages: we just need to stop being so poor.

Now, we’re not entirely just being provocative with that statement… Or just stating the obvious.

Conventional Rolex buying wisdom suggests that the way you get into an AD’s good books is by buying up less popular models (typically hard-to-move women’s models like Lady Datejusts) over a long period of time, working your way up through the Rolex ranks before landing on your top replica Rolex GMT-Master and Submariner watches.

But as a DMARGE correspondant who works for one of Sydney’s biggest watch boutiques has shared with us, another tactic that’s successful is just to go in and buy the most expensive 2022 Rolex fake watches in the boutique. They shared an anecdote where a buyer with no previous purchase history simply walked in to the Rolex boutique, bought platinum Swiss made replica Rolex Daytona ref. 116506-0002 watches (a roughly AU$350,000 watch) and instantly found himself placed at the tippy-top of all the desirable waiting lists.

Other incredibly expensive Rolex fake watches for sale that could net you the same effect, we wager, include the Pearlmaster 39 ref. 86409RBR-0001 (~AU$290,000) or the ultra-exclusive Daytona ‘Eye of the Tiger’ ref. 116588TBR (~AU$310,000), which doesn’t even appear on Rolex official catalogues.

So rather than spending six figures over a couple of years on a bunch of undesirable, smaller replica watches paypal, the better tactic is to just bellyflop in and splash your cash all in one go on a super expensive piece. At least, that’s the theory.

Of course, the other solution to this perverse state of affairs, as jeweller and watch journalist Joseph Adams has suggested, is for Rolex to relax their notoriously strict control over retail prices and let ADs markup watches however they like – like how car dealers do.

“If manufacturers allow dealers to mark up AAA cheap fake watches to what the market will bear it would solve the current shortage in one fell swoop… They reduce access to a simple metric that everybody can understand,” he argues. “Every other way of selling sought-after watches is cronyism of the worst sort… All of us – from the manufacturer to the consumer – should embrace it.”
