The exhibition of Rolex diving watches was held in Nov.20, telling that how the popular fake diving watches of Rolex assist humans to explore the deep sea with its innovative technology and extraordinary performance. Inspired by the patented Oyster bracelet of the brand, the exhibition has been divided into three parts: deep, deeper and deepest, showing us the development of Rolex diving watches which is from Submariner to Sea-Dweller then to Deepsea, meanwhile, it also presents that how the timepieces assist the explorers to finish the tasks of diving.
Paragon of diving watches
Rolex released the Oyster wristwatch in 1926, becoming the outstanding timepiece that no one could surpass. The first Submariner was water resistant to a depth of 100 meters.
Challenge the deep sea
The development of diving watches was stepped into a new generation in 1960s and Rolex had faced the new challenge – breaking through the depth of diving that humans can achieve and the length of time they could work under the sea. So in 1967, Sea-Dweller was born in the world, meeting the requirements from the saturated divers. Meanwhile, the water resistant is to 610 meters while in 1978, the Oystersteel case copy Rolex Sea-Dweller had broken through the 1220 meters. The Deepsea has achieved the depth of 3900 meters.
Reaching the deepest of sea
The exhibition also displays two experimental diving watches including Rolex Deep Sea Special and Rolex Deepsea Challenge. Rolex Deep Sea Special created the record of 10,916 meters while the Deepsea challenge was worn by James Cameron to explore the bottom of the Maria Trench, achieving a depth of 10,908 meters.
